11 Hanford nuclear workers hospitalized after breathing harmful chemicals

By Staff Writer

HANFORD (INTELLIHUB) — Nuclear waste stored at the Hanford Nuclear Facility in Washington State has reportedly released toxic vapors which were breathed in by 11 employees, leading to their hospitalization.

King 5 News reported that the workers were coughing blood after breathing in fumes that “tasted like copper”.

Officials say that it is unknown at this time what caused the leak.

Workers are saying that the facility needs to install better monitoring systems that will detect chemical vapors to reduce human exposure.
