63 shot in Chicago over the weekend, hospitals inundated

10 dead in one of Chicago's most violent weekends in history

Hospitals in Chicago were inundated with shooting victims Saturday and Sunday with one of the most violent weekends to strike the city in history.

Sixty-three people in total were shot and shootings are still going on in what seems to be a massive wave of never-ending violence.

A total of 10 people were killed over the weekend and shootings from gunmen wearing masks are also on the rise for reasons unknown.

Police maintain that most of the shootings are due to gang retaliation and only a handful are random.

Chicago Police Chief of Patrol Fred Waller said in a prepared statement: “Detectives are working around the clock to investigate the incidents, build a timeline of events and identify any shooter. We’ll also be conducting coordinated enforcement missions to target individuals that are driving the violence in these areas and focus on where we believe retaliatory violence may occur.”
