Protesters scuffled with police outside Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center Saturday night after a 74-year-old woman suffering from a brain tumor reportedly became a prisoner of the facility against her own will after refusing to take a COVID-19 test.
The jaws of protesters dropped when they found out the police did not respond to their request to rectify the situation but rather responded to a call placed by the medical facility itself regarding unruly protesters outside.
Gale Myers suffers from a brain tumor and should not be separated from her power of attorney, according to one woman who documented the situation on video.
“Why is the sheriff in there with them?” the woman asked. Why are they all in there with them when we called them?”
“They are literally holding her against her will,” one of the protesters said. “Gale needs to be released.”
“This is medical kidnapping,” one woman yelled. “They won’t let her power of attorney in the hospital.”
“I want my mom and I want to be able to see her,” the captive woman’s daughter told authorities as she banged on the facility door.
The facility is located at 2211 NE 139th St in Vancouver, Washington.
