ANNAPOLIS, Maryland (INTELLIHUB) — According to Capitol Gazette crime reporter Phil Davis and reports from police, a lone gunman stormed the Gazette’s offices a little before 2:40 p.m. on Thursday, taking several lives.

The grim news comes on the heels of last week’s live active shooter drill in which authorities practiced to a similar mock scenario using volunteer role-players from local police and fire departments.

The crime reporter turned victim says he was at his employer’s offices located at 888 Bestgate Rd. where  a “single shooter” shot and killed “multiple people.”

Five people are reported to have been killed by the Caucasian male attacker.

Soon after, Davis took to Twitter from the building in which the incident occurred where he fired out a number of breaking tweets once the situation subsided.

“A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead,” Davis tweeted.

“Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can’t say much more and don’t want to declare anyone dead, but it’s bad.”

In a follow-up tweet the reporter describes the terror. “There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you’re under your desk and then hear the gunman reload,” he explained.

According to reports, the attacker used a shotgun to shoot his way through bulletproof glass which ultimately gave the killer free-range to his victims.
