(INTELLIHUB) — According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Arabic is now the fastest growing language in American households.
However, although it’s the fastest growing language it still ranks the seventh most used language in the United States, statistics say.
The NY Post reported:
Of those who speak Arabic at home, 38 percent are not proficient in English, according to census estimates.
That’s just below the 42 percent English-proficiency rate among the 39.3 million US residents who speak Spanish at home.
The growth in Arabic is linked to continued immigration from Middle Eastern and North African countries, according to the Pew Research Center.
If the use of the language keeps growing at the current rate, English may one day be a secondary language in America and indigenous Americans may also become a minority.
Just some food for thought.
