Dungey rides picture perfect race
ATLANTA (INTELLIHUB) — Ryan Dungey, no. 1, grabbed the holeshot on his Factory KTM 450-F Saturday night in the Georgia Dome as a jam-packed stadium of fans stood on the edge of their seats for Round 8 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series.
Although Dungey had his troubles earlier in the day, he managed to ride out a picture perfect race in the 20-minute plus one lap main event in the 450SX class.
Track conditions were rough and slick and there were sand sections which made passing tough in spots.
“The track was gone […] it was like survival. It was pretty nasty and rough,” Dungey told reporters in a press conference after the race.
Dungey finished First Place with a 2.8 second lead over Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac, no. 2. — Tomac started in 9th.
Factory KTM rider Blake Baggett, no. 4, took third.
Dungey became the third rider in SX history along with Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael to obtain five wins in Atlanta.
