HAZMAT crews dispatched to remove dead body of soldier just returning from duty in Liberia

KILLEEN, Tex. (INTELLIHUB) — Shockingly a soldier, male, 24, who was stationed in the Ebola stricken region of Liberia, West-Africa, returned to the U.S. on “emergency leave”, Jan. 7, before falling over dead in the front yard of his apartment complex Tuesday morning.
A neighbor spotted the man’s body around 7:30 a.m. at the “3200 block of Cantebrian Drive, near Ellison High School” and reported his gruesome find to authorities.
Authorities responded by sending a few police and ambulance units and even a HAZMAT crew to remove the man’s potentially infected body, disinfecting the yard, sealing off the entire neighborhood.
At this time it is unknown if the soldier lied to his superiors to get authorization to return to the U.S. under an “emergency leave”.
The soldier was undergoing self-quarantine for Ebola and was scheduled to check in with medical officials twice daily.
A spokesman from the Texas Department of State Health Services was quoted saying, “We are aware of the situation. Testing will occur. The risk is considered to be very low.”
So far no other reports of Ebola have surfaced nearby and for now the cause of death is undetermined.
No neighbors or anyone known to have had contact with the man have been placed under quarantine at this point.
