Entire Texas National Guard deployed to help with rescue efforts

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott orders the deployment of 12,000 National Guard troops to aide residents caught in storm

HOUSTON (INTELLIHUB) — Governor Greg Abbott ordered the full deployment of the entire Texas National Guard to aide with rescue and humanitarian efforts following Hurricane Harvey.

Residents and there pets have become displaced following heavy flooding throughout the region and are in desperate need of help as amenities such as drinking water and gas become scarce.

The order encompasses all 12,000 members of the Texas National Guard who will do whatever they can to help displaced residents and pets.

On Monday, people were loaded into two-and-a-half ton trucks and taken to safety to escape the dangerous floodwaters.

Officials say that they are doing there best to deal with a “triangle of ongoing rain […] that will lead to even more flooding and danger for Texas,” the governor explained. “Texans need to be prepared for very heavy rainfall.”
