FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA (INTELLIHUB) — Carlos López, the 45-year-old purchasing director for the town of Hialeah, was recently arrested in Fort Lauderdale for drug possession.
López was pulled over on Dec. 29 for speeding away from a drug deal. During the traffic stop, he actually confessed that he had placed a meth pipe in his rectum to hide it during the search. He was arrested for using methamphetamine while driving and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the police report, “López appeared visually shaken and sweating. López’s face was flushed from an apparent rise in body temperature and pupils were dilated,” according to the arrest report. “As López searched for his license I observed involuntary muscle spasms in López’s face as well as slurred repetitive speech. These symptoms are consistent with being under the influence of methamphetamine.”
Apparently he had confessed to hiding the meth pipe when police asked him why his pants were unbuttoned.
The police report also said that the arresting officers,“began speaking with López at which time López admitted to have a methamphetamine glass pipe inside his anal cavity. López then stated he placed it in his rectum as he was being pulled over so I wouldn’t find it if I searched his vehicle.”
López has had a long history of drug abuse while working for the city. In 2005, he was suspended for nearly a month for drug use, and then later in 2007 he was suspended again, although the last time a reason was not given. According to multiple reports, López will be fired pending the outcome of his trial.
