HILO (INTELLIHUB) — Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted on Friday as 410 earthquakes struck the eastern region of the Big Island in the past 24 hours causing lava to flow and fissures to tear apart roads and subdivisions near Lailani Estates as authorities warn resident are on their own amid the release of deadly toxic gases.
Over 14,000 people are without power and several houses have been destroyed from spot eruptions and the ground is hissing.
“It’s hissing and sounds like a jet,” Isaac Krakauer said who was filming a spot eruption which had already destroyed a house. “It’s spewing lava.”
At least 6 fissures have opened up in the area which seem to be forming a path.
