Leftist McCarthyism: Liberal journalists declare Donald Trump an actual traitor

Pathetic liberals embrace new age McCarthyism

(INTELLIHUB) — Multiple liberal writers have now gone on the record with their belief that President-elect Donald Trump is an actual traitor to America, with one even going as far as to suggest that not only Trump but Republicans in Congress as well as actual Trump voters are all guilty of treason.

Former Bill Clinton appointee John Shattuck first raised the question late last week with a column in the Boston Globe that claimed that Trump’s actions (as well as the totally unconfirmed claim by the CIA) raise the “specter” of treason.

“A specter of treason hovers over Donald Trump. He has brought it on himself by dismissing a bipartisan call for an investigation of Russia’s hacking of the Democratic National Committee as a “ridiculous” political attack on the legitimacy of his election as president,” wrote Shattuck.

“Seventeen US national intelligence agencies have unanimously concluded that Russia engaged in cyberwarfare against the US presidential campaign. The lead agency, the CIA, has reached the further conclusion that Russia’s hacking was intended to influence the election in favor of Trump,” he continued.

Shattuck completely ignores the documented fact that many within the intelligence community do not believe the so-called “CIA assessment” which was first reported by the openly anti-Trump establishment Washington Post. He also ignores an absolutely key fact about the corporate media and the CIA in his attack piece on all things Trump.

As Carey Wedler recently reported, the Washington Post has a long history of collusion and conflicts of interest involving the Central Intelligence Agency.

The outlet’s behind-the-scenes relationship with the CIA is nothing new. In 2013, a conflict of interest arose shortly after Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, purchased the newspaper. As the Nation reported at the time:

“[Jeff Bezos] recently secured a $600 million contract from the CIA. That’s at least twice what Bezos paid for the Post this year. Bezos recently disclosed that the company’s Web-services business is building a ‘private cloud’ for the CIA to use for its data needs.”

As this occurred, a petition calling on the Washington Post to disclose its new ties to the CIA when reporting on the agency garnered 30,000 signatures. According to the RootsforAction petition:

“The Post often does reporting on CIA activities. The coverage should include full disclosure that the owner of the Washington Post is also the main owner of Amazon — and Amazon is now gaining huge profits directly from the CIA.”

Wedler also detailed the past connections between the CIA and many of the major corporate media news outlets, including the Post.

In 1977, Carl Bernstein, a former Post journalist, wrote about the CIA’s efforts to infiltrate the news media, often with the assistance of top management at the papers. In total, Bernstein reported, over 400 journalists were involved:

“Journalists provided a full range of clandestine services—from simple intelligence gathering to serving as go‑betweens with spies in Communist countries. Reporters shared their notebooks with the CIA. Editors shared their staffs. Some of the journalists were Pulitzer Prize winners, distinguished reporters who considered themselves ambassadors without‑portfolio for their country…In many instances, CIA documents show, journalists were engaged to perform tasks for the CIA with the consent of the managements of America’s leading news organizations.”

Though Bernstein failed to name the Post as an offender in his article, according to Tim Weiner, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, the CIA worked directly with the Washington Post, among many other outlets. In his comprehensive history of the CIA, Legacy of Ashes, Weiner wrote of the CIA’s first official chief, Allen Dulles:

“Dulles kept in close touch with the men who ran the New York Times, The Washington Post, and the nation’s leading weekly magazines. He could pick up the phone and edit a breaking story, make sure an irritating foreign correspondent was yanked from the field, or hire the services of men such as Time’s Berlin bureau chief and Newsweek’s man in Tokyo.”

With Shattuck floating the idea of the next President of the country being a traitor, other liberal propagandists have taken it to the next level, including Salon writer Chauncey Devega who declared Trump, the Republicans in Congress, and any Trump voter who doesn’t denounce him as guilty of treason.

Devega, who in the past has openly called anyone that disagrees with his take on Black Lives Matter racists, dove straight in to the new leftist McCarthyism in his declaration that everybody he disagrees with politically is a traitor.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Republican nominee Donald Trump urged a foreign power, Russia, to interfere in the American election in order to undermine his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. Russia complied. The American intelligence community, including the CIA and FBI, has reached a “strong consensus” that the Russians interfered with the presidential election in order to help Donald Trump win.

It has also been reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally directed this espionage operation. So serious was Russian interference in the American presidential election that the Obama administration warned Putin that it was tantamount to “armed conflict.”

Republican leaders in Congress were briefed on Russia’s interference in the presidential election and how it was targeted at elevating Trump and hurting Clinton. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other congressional Republicans chose to block any public discussion of these findings. In what could be construed as a quid pro quo, McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, has been selected by President-elect Trump for a Cabinet position in his administration.

Donald Trump’s flirtations with Russia and Vladimir Putin are part of a broader pattern of reckless and irresponsible behavior. Trump has numerous conflicts of financial interest that would appear to violate the emoluments clause of the Constitution. His sons, Eric and Donald Jr., were involved in a scheme (since withdrawn) that looked a lot like an attempt to sell access to his administration through million-dollar “charity” donations.

Trump has threatened to violate the First Amendment by suppressing freedom of the press, encouraged violence against Clinton and those he deemed his enemies, suggested he would not respect the outcome of the election if he lost and now promoted people widely regarded as white supremacists or white nationalists to senior positions in his administration. Donald Trump has also selected key advisers and cabinet level officials who have close personal and financial relationships with Russian leaders in banking, finance and government.

The sum total of these facts leads to a very troubling conclusion.

President-elect Donald Trump is a traitor. As suggested by John Shattuck, a Harvard university professor, in the Boston Globe, Trump’s actions may approach the legal definition of treason as defined by U.S. federal law.

Not happy to simply openly label the incoming president as a traitor, Devega takes it one step further by declaring members of the Republican Party and American citizens who voted for Trump as guilty of treason as well.

Members of the Republican Party who knew about Russia’s efforts to interfere with the presidential election and chose to suppress or block such information, for fear of hurting their candidate’s chances, are also traitors.

In light of Russia’s interference with the presidential election, Republicans and others who voted for and support Donald Trump are also traitors, at least to the degree that they do not now work against and denounce him.

So there you have it. In the insane and fabricated world of new age McCarthyism, Donald Trump, Republicans in Congress, and the tens of millions of people who voted for him and still support him are all traitors who have “possibly” broke U.S. federal law.

This is the new America in the age of Trump.

The same liberals who claimed Trump could destroy the country if he didn’t accept Hillary’s presumed win have now gone into full fledged “blame the Russians for anything we don’t agree with” mode and have no problem declaring the President-elect a traitor.
