Leftist Media Matters working with Facebook to censor alternative media

Progressive attack dogs working with social media giants

(INTELLIHUB) — The left-wing propagandist group Media Matters for America is secretly working behind the scenes with Facebook to combat so-called fake news, documents released by the Washington Free Beacon have revealed.

The progressive advocacy group told donors at a weekend retreat in Florida that it is in discussion with Facebook leadership over how best to fight fake news and propaganda, according to a briefing book obtained at the high level event.

“We’ve been engaging with Facebook leadership behind the scenes to share our expertise and offer input on developing meaningful solutions,” reads the briefing book. Eerily, the group also claims to be “serving” as the social media giants partner in identifying what they believe is fake news.

Additionally, Media Matters appears to be not only working with Facebook but also with internet behemoth Google in a plan they claim will ensure that, “Internet and social media platforms, like Google and Facebook, no longer uncritically and without consequence host and enrich fake news sites and propagandists.”

“After Facebook responded to our campaign by acknowledging the problem of fake news and agreeing to do something about it, we began a dialogue,” the briefing book reads. “It became clear from these conversations that Facebook needed our help in fully understanding the problem and identifying concrete solutions.”

The term “fake news” has been widely used throughout the corporate media to attack legitimate alternative news outlets like Intellihub and Infowars. One can imagine that an organization like Media Matters, complete with tens of millions of dollars in establishment backing, isn’t simply out to stop scammers in Macedonia but rather are directly gunning for independent news outlets that report outside the mainstream narrative.

In fact, shortly after Donald Trump’s stunning election victory, the entire corporate media began a massive disinformation campaign that labeled this website and dozens of others as purveyors of fake news.

As I reported in early December,  “A new McCarthyite like list is being promoted across the corporate media after its release by the hidden and extremely biased anonymous group PropOrNot and subsequent promotion by the elites favorite newspaper of record, the Washington Post.”

“On the groups website the organization has produced what they ironically call, “The List” which basically smears any news outlet that doesn’t solely publish establishment views on U.S. foreign policy as peddlers of Russian propaganda. Not stopping at this absurd defamation, the organization also calls for any website on their list to be investigated by the government for espionage and other bad business.”

For their part, Media Matters has a long history of specifically targeting the alternative media which again points to the logical conclusion that their efforts with Facebook are about censoring news outlets that they disagree with.

In 2014, long time Clinton operative and founder of Media Matters David Brock even went as far as to admit to CNN that the group uses Soros money to influence the corporate media and work directly with establishment journalists.

As Kurt Nimmo reported at the time, “MMFA is deeply embedded within the Democrat establishment. Former Bill Clinton Chief of Staff, John Podesta, helped the Democrat propaganda operation get its start. Hillary Clinton advised MMFA to emulate conservative think tanks in its organizational approach.”

Considering the long history of Media Matters, one would have to be insane to believe that they are simply looking out for the public at large by secretly working with Facebook to identify what is and isn’t fake news.

Make no mistake, this is about censoring the alternative media.
