An Arkansas man was detained in Bentonville by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and has been charged on three counts after he was pictured on social media Wednesday propping his feet up on the desk of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi while a crowd of marauders stormed the U.S. Capitol building.
Richard Barnett, 60, has been charged by authorities with disorderly conduct, unlawful entry, and theft of public property.
A press release from the Justice Department states that Barnett is scheduled to appear in federal court on Tuesday and will eventually be extradited to Washington.
“This case is just one in a number that demonstrate the brazen acts that were committed at the Capitol on Wednesday,” Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Michael Sherwin said. “My Office is committed to prosecuting all individuals who participated in these abhorrent acts to the fullest extent of the law.”
As always in America, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
