NEW YORK CITY (INTELLIHUB) — A small autonomous zone has been formed inside Washington Square Park where two scraggly-looking people have taken over a circular fountain area while others standby to protect them.
Interestingly enough, several provocateurs appeared to be guarding the cordoned-off area of the park on Monday where the duo now resides and police are doing nothing about it.
The dirty and crazed duo (a man and a woman) got aggressive with Crowdsource the Truth founder Jason Goodman when he approached the public fountain area to film.
During the confrontation, a bottle wielding woman threatened to attack the Crowdsource the Truth founder who was well within his right to film in public.
All the while, two men armed with cameras aggressively harassed Goodman as if they were working in conjunction with and protecting the two people inside the makeshift mini-autonomous zone.
“If you are going to approach people and they don’t want to be it is harassment,” one of the men intimidating Goodman said.
“I will advance on you” said another provocateur. “You’re playing with fire.”
Soon after the confrontation, Goodman talked to several nearby police officers and their supervisor who appear to not care that the altercation had happened. Moreover, the police appeared to not give two hoots about the autonomous zone or those who have taken over the park.
“Do you guys understand why even people who support the police get frustrated with this kind of thing? Goodman asked as the police stoodby completely idle.
