(INTELLIHUB) — In the year 2024, NASA plans to strike an asteroid with a mane-made object that will be traveling nine times faster than a speeding bullet in order to better understand how the trajectory of incoming asteroids can deviate.
The experiment will be the first of its kind, as the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) will be targeting to asteroids that orbit each other.
The data will help the agency better assess how to save mankind in the event of an impending future strike on the onto the planet.
