SCRIBIA, NY (INTELLIHUB) — Twenty to thirty gallons of lubrication oil from the Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Plant’s cooling fan has leaked into Lake Ontario and is currently being investigated by environmental agencies.

This comes after the U.S. Coast Guard observed an oily sheen on top of the lake Sunday, which prompted an emergency response.

As of now authorities are saying that the danger to public health is low, however the area remains off limits.

A source of Intellihub has reported that a New York State Department of Environmental police car “went screaming by with lights on” and that the situation may be “serious.”
