Obama, the First lady, their daughters Malia, Sasha, and the family dog Bo are on vacation off the coast of Maine. While the family is enjoying the good life on the coast, the American people and wildlife in and around the Gulf region suffer from the poisons of the oil spill, gases and the dispersant known as Corexit 9500.

As reported by the mainstream news, BP is currently claiming that  the leak has been stopped and the disaster is coming to an end. Even if this is true, the estimated 2 million to 20 million gallons of toxic dispersant that has been sprayed into the Gulf of Mexico aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The entire time that the BP well has been gushing, an unspecified amount of oil and toxic gases have wrecked havoc on the coastal population. The Coast Guard and Evergreen Air, in conjunction with the Department of Defense, have essentially conducted a bio warfare simulation on the wildlife and residents of the gulf region.

Due to the leak and heavy spraying sanctioned by the D.O.D., plants crops have been affected in multiple states. Acid rain is now a reality and tar balls have reached Florida and Texas beaches.

When compared to Bush, president Obama has taken less days of vacation, however the President should be working on solutions to help the people in the Gulf prepare for such a disaster as a super hurricane. A hurricane that could potentially prove to be very toxic if not deadly.

According to the AP article titled, Obama, family take weekend getaway on Maine coast “a tally kept by Mark Knoller, a CBS News reporter long recognized by the White House as authoritative on such matters, Obama has spent all or part of 65 days on vacation, including days at Camp David. At this point in his tenure, George W. Bush had logged 120 days. That included 13 trips to his Texas ranch.”

The truth of the matter is even with the leak stopped, the damage has been done and will continue. These chemicals will reach many food sources and water supplies over the coming months, signaling a massive problem for all the citizens of America. So much oil and dispersant is still floating around, possibly even evaporating  it the clouds, not to mention what has already sunk to the ocean bottom. Some reports estimate that up to 40% of the Gulf of Mexico’s volume is now tainted with oil.

The bigger question is, will the Obama administration ignore the health problems reported by American citizens and just let it go, or will someone step in and do what is right? We know that the EPA can not be trusted, which raises the question, are the air quality reports accurate?  During 9/11 the EPA made a public statement that ” the air was safe to breath.” We now know that this was not the case and many rescue workers and first responders have died due to the gross negligence of the Environmental Protection Agency.
