Update: The final death toll is 129

PARIS, France (INTELLIHUB) — France looks like a war zone. The military has been deployed onto city streets and the entire country remains under martial law while unknown terrorists continue to violently storm the city with a siege of random and extremely violent attacks leaving at least 148 dead as of 2:07 a.m. local time.

Six or seven random shootings at various locations throughout the city along with at least one bombing at a club venue have ravaged local residents. Another bombing at a soccer stadium was briefly mentioned by the press and was said to have taken place near the beginning of the game.

At least one hostage situation involving at least 20 hostages was also reported.

The attacks are presumed by authorities to be ‘highly coordinated’ and so far have all taken place in highly populated areas warranting the French President’s order for the country’s borders to be ‘sealed’; a first for France.

At least one of the attacks was reported to be committed by a “suicide bomber” and more attacks are expected to come as tensions on the ground run high.

U.S. President Barack Obama addressed the attacks in a press conference Friday evening. Obama said the attacks were an “outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians” and were more of an “attack on humanity.”

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stepped-up security measures at major U.S. airports in response to the attacks.

Authorities are saying the final death toll may mark the largest terror attack to have ever taken place on French soil.
