Betsy DeVos confirmed as Education Secretary

WASHINGTON D.C. (INTELLIHUB) — Vice President Mike Pence broke a 50-50 tie vote, becoming the 51st vote after two Republican shills aligned with Dems in a botched attempt to thwart the enevitable announcement of Betsy DeVos as Education Secretary.

The Dems are claiming that DeVos has limited experience with the public schooling system and say that she carries ties to organizations which create conflicts of interest that DeVos has already stated that she will divest from.

On the flip side Republicans are saying that the Dems are making it hard for the President of the United States (POTUS) to insert his cabinet picks, which is generally has occured for former presidents much faster and with far less opposition. But the Dems argue that Trump and his picks are the ones complicating matters due to their business ties which Dems say have to be vetted.

Tuesday morning President Trump tweeted out from the @POTUS account:

“Senate Dems protest to keep the failed status quo. Betsy DeVos is a reformer, and she is going to be a great Education Sec. for our kids!”

After the victory the president followed up with the following tweet:

It has been reported that DeVos wants to return the power of education to the states and take away as much federal control as possible.

DeVos is expected to address other key issues in the education sector in the coming days.

Protesters in D.C. have unsucessfully tried to block DaVos from entering the President’s cabinet for days now.
