Reporter on Camp Fire: The fire went through so fast that the trees made it and the houses are gone

"All the trees are still standing -- but the fire went through so fast that the trees made it and the houses are gone."

A mini-documentary published by the Sacramento Bee YouTube channel reveals how the California Camp Fire moved so fast that trees somehow survived while houses were reduced to ash which begs the following question: Was the Camp Fire really a wildfire/forest fire?

Sacramento Bee reporter Ryan Sabalow covered the fire for days last November directly from the town of Paradise itself. In the video, Sabalow explains how the homes that remained standing after the burn were an exception because they were few and far between.

“What I was telling everybody was that ‘homes that were standing were the exception,'” he said. “That’s what I saw over the days and weeks that I was up there.”

Reporter’s voice (presumably Sabalow): “All the trees are still standing — but the fire went through so fast that the trees made it and the houses are gone.”
