Russia’s most secret nuclear-powered deepwater submarine catches fire killing 14


Super secretive Russian deep-sea vessel rumored to have been on a mission to cut underwater Internet cables.

SERVEROMORSK (INTELLIHUB) — Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday confirmed speculation that the deep-sea submersible that caught fire on Monday killing 14 crewmen was nuclear-powered.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told President Putin in a meeting on Thursday that the vessel’s reactor is “completely isolated now” and is “in full working order.”

The ultra-secret sub “Losharik” was rumored to have been on a mission to survey and possible cut deep-sea Internet cables which provide the world with online capability.

It’s currently unknown if or when the mission will continue or what the mission even entails.
