Secret Service investigating suspicious package found near White House, suspect in custody

Suspicious package threat creates additional work for Secret Service around White House

WASHINGTON (INTELLIHUB) — The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a suspicious package that was found near the White House grounds Tuesday morning.

Roads in the vicinity were closed and members of the press were who were attending a briefing were locked inside the press wing of the White House until the scene was cleared by authorities.

The Secret Service fired off a series of tweets Tuesday addressing the situation.

At 12:19 p.m. the ‘all clear’ was given when the Secret Service tweeted:

“Suspicious package near @WhiteHouse grounds cleared. All road closures related to this incident are lifted.”
