PRINCETON, Ore. (INTELLIHUB) — Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward and his posse showed up at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Thursday afternoon to “offer” the group the “opportunity to get out” before things get ugly.

“I’m willing to get you an escort all the way out of the state,” Sheriff Ward told the group’s leader Ammon Bundy.

“There are some positives that can come out of this,” the sheriff said in a disingenuous manner before going on to add, “I think we need to find a peaceful resolution and get you guys out of here.”

That’s when Ammon explained to the Sheriff,” Well we are here for the people of Harney County because the people were ignored.

“What do you expect us to do if they are bringing up legitimate concerns, that as you know that people across the nation are bringing up those concerns now that’s the big topic, and that sheriff you would not address those concerns. You would not recognize that people had those concerns and you just simply chose to ignore them.”

“We are getting ignored again sir,” Ammon Bundy told the Sheriff.

The sheriff then said he felt comfortable around the group, but said the citizens of Harney County want them gone.

The Sheriff said, “Right now while it’s on a positive note let’s work it out.”

“We tried the prudent methods,” Bundy explained to the Sheriff.

“We petitioned our representatives and I gave them notice and they did not respond.”

“We pose no threat to the community,” Bundy told the Sheriff, “It’s time to get the schools open.”

The Sheriff then explained how he can’t guarantee what any of these other people showing up will do. “It only takes one unstable person,” said the Sheriff.

The Sheriff then failed to talk about the redress agreement with the group, so Mr. Bundy shook the Sheriff’s hand, said, “thank you,” and turned away.

It’s also important to note that “hundreds” of townspeople have showed up over the past 5 days in support of the groups statement, showing just how out of touch the Sheriff is with his own people.
