SmartRocket team to launch lighted advertising billboards in space by 2025

The future is here and apparently, it's going to be bright.

Advertisements can be found nearly everywhere today. They come in many formats, shapes, and sizes. Some big, some small, some lighted, some not but did you ever imagine that one day ads would be floating in space?

A team of developers at SmartRocket plans to change the advertising game forever by placing lighted billboards in space.

According to an article posted on, the tech team plans to have the gear ready by 2020 and plans to launch the first ad contracts shortly after.

“We are ruled by brands and events,” Project leader Vlad Sitnikov said. “The economy is the blood system of society — entertainment and advertising are at its heart. We will live in space, and humankind will start delivering its culture to space.”

A so-called constellation of satellites which make the lighted array will fly approximately 300 miles above the earth allowing inhabitants to see ads for up to six minutes at a time.
