H7 avian influenza causes chaos at Tennessee chicken farms
LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. (INTELLIHUB) — Over 73,000 birds are scheduled to be culled after a highly pathogenic strain of the avian flu was detected among birds at a commercial chicken breeding facility resulting in a full quarantine.
According to reports, at least 30 other similar facilities within a 6-mile radius have also been placed under quarantine as a precaution.
The tragedy marks the first H7 avian influenza (HPAI) case to be detected in the U.S. this year.
