Vessel Strikes Inactive Wellhead, Causing Oil Spill

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a vessel striking an inactive wellhead, which apparently led to an oil spill southwest of Port Sulphur, according to the United States Coast Guard.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning about nine miles south of Port Sulphur.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report that the 42-foot crew boat, Sea Raider, allided with the wellhead owned by Swift Energy around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
