Extreme winter weather conditions in the United States triggered satellites monitoring the storm to go haywire and give false readings.
Reports claim that sensors on the GOES-East weather monitoring satellite may have malfunctioned several times in February, confusing meteorologists.
“This is incredible,” Washington D.C.-based meteorologist Matthew Cappucci Tweeted on Tuesday. “That purple bleeding south you see isn’t from clouds – extreme #cold is expanding as night commences, tricking satellites over #Texas and #Oklahoma into thinking there are clouds.”
The Grand Solar Minimum may be responsible for rapidly declining temperatures. The topic has been talked about on The Shepard Ambellas Show. The show is nationally syndicated on iHeart Radio.
